How are the band/artist represented? Is this similar across the videos?
The artist is represented in a really layed back kind of way. He is shown to be casual when driving his car. He is also shown to be in control as he is driving, and not a passenger. The car that he is driving could consider that he may be rich as its quite a classic car. This is conventional for a music video as the artist is made to look good throughout the video. The company the artist has throughout the video is with an attractive female, which also represents the artist in a good way and makes him stand out. The female is also playful which conveys a rock and roll theme. She puts her hands over his eyes whilst he is driving, which shows she is willing to take risks which links with the rock and roll theme. The band is only included for a short period of time in this video. This therefore, puts the lead singer as the main focus. There is also the America Hotel, which shows the artist to b very international.

Analysing Music Videos - The verve - Bittersweet Symphony

How are the band/artist represented? Is this similar across the videos?
The artist is represented in a care free way. This is shown by him walking down a busy street and not been phased by anybody walking past him. He is presented to be quite lonely. No matter what people are doing as they walk past him and say to him, he doesn't acknowledge other people at all. This could suggest he is thinking about his actions etc. However, the end of the video contrasts with the start of the video. This is because at the start he is on his own and it seems that people are against him, however by the end of the video, the people are walking the same way as he is, and this could suggest that they can now see his way of thinking maybe.

What relationship exists between the images and the lyrics in the chosen videos?

In the video the artist lip syncs and in various points of the video, the images mirror the lyrics. The lyrics which say "but the airways are clean" there is a binman cleaning the pavement which mirror those lyrics. "your a slave to money" lyrics also are shown through the images of a man pushing out a fridge, which is his job, and it shows how his job is a chore to him - but he has to do it because of money.

What relationship exists between the music and the images?

The music doesn't really link with the images. The speed that the artist is walking down the pavement doesn't fit with the beat of the music. This suggests that this is because he doesn't seem to fit in with everyday life and he hasn't got the same motivation as everybody else around him.
